For some inexplicable arseon, Anthony Kiedis and Andre 3000 are throwing the house party to END all house parties. Some of the guests, having downed a few drinks, decide to form an impromtu band. Up to the plate step Matt Tong on drums, Flea on bass, Kirk Hammet and Kurt Cobain (amazingly raised from the dead) on guitar, and Thom Yorke on vocals. Their guitars are put through the pedalboards of Jonny Greenwood and Matt Bellamy, and at the request of the guests, they perform the hits of Bloc Party, but in the style of their hosts.
You pass by this house on your bike, and manage to catch a muffled snippet of this amazing blend of styles and musical genius.
This is nothing like what Icarus sound like, but we like to pretend it is.
Icarus have just released their debut EP and are working on an album.
Icarus says:
"Thanks to all those who came to the Dud Banned Showcase on friday night (especially if you stayed for our whole set), was immense stuff!" (17 weeks ago) me too!

Well according to bebo it's been 47 days since we posted a blog entry, so here's the latest news from the Ic camp.
As you probably know from our constant spamming and advertising, we've been working on an EP. Our debut release, we want to make it as damn sexy as we can, and working on a very tight schedule it has taken, admittedly, a little longer than we hoped. HOWEVER, it's so close to release now! Just got to record/rerecord some vocals, then have a fat day of mixing, then mastering and its ready We've had to do all the work ourselves, due to having limited cash to chuck at a studio, but have spent literally days getting all the songs sounding as great as we can, and we think the results are pretty awesome. Expect it to go for about a quid (to cover our costs), some time during Xmas.
Cos we've been focusing all our efforts on the EP, we haven't had a chance to pluck a single note in the sesh house since our last band practice which was.........................fookin
g ages ago (before the latest forum show :S). But that won't be for long, since alongside these final stages of EP-creation we hope to get together at least twice before the end of the year. There are so many (too many?!) great new ideas flying around now, and as soon as we can get working on them together you will start hearing new, hopefully even better, things from Icarus.
Speaking of hearing Icarus, who's coming to 'Sexy Action New Year' on the 5th of January? You are? Good! It'll be our one year anniversary don't ya know, and we can guarantee our support set is gonna be a treat for you all It should be full of surprises, as we're in the process of planning our half hour to represent the evolution of the band over its first year, which means we will be playing some new stuff you have NEVER heard before. Yeh that's right, it's so new it's not even appearing on the EP.Then after that we've got the Judd Band Showcase in early 08 (january maybe?) which promises to be our biggest gig yet, and the Judd Stars In Their Eyes competition, which should be a laugh. Oh yeh, and a little thing called The Stable 7 second round, which we should be getting a place in after your awesome support in round one. Cheers!
So basically, get our EP (constantly hassle the band members over the next few weeks and we'll put one aside especially for you), come to our gigs next year, and prepare for a final 8 months of sweet as, dance-till-you-vomit, rave-like-a-spastic, energy-filled audio jizz from your friends at the Ic You heard me right: 8 months, then we're finished. Uni will call, we will part ways, and Icarus will be no more.....
But holy sex-monkeys are those 8 months gonna be INSANE!
As you may have noticed, the band picture has changed to the winning picture of the New Band Photo Competition!! The winner was MISS KATHRYN FRANKS, hard-core Ic fan and aspiring photographer. As promised, she wins herself a refund of her ticket to the gig, a copy of the upcoming EP, and (naturally) undying love from the Ic lads!! Well done her. High fives all round!
The "old" year 13 bands that we so sadly said goodbye to in October time, as they all went their separate ways, are planning to keep Christmas spirits high with huge reunion gigs! Confirmed so far is Sexy Christmas News, with Sexy Action News headlining, Matt Bishop as support and.. Icarus! Yes, you'eard. We at Ic are honoured to be asked to play with the lads, and we hope you'll come show your apprecation for a night of sweet music. To be fair, anyone that hasn't heard SAN's EP should die. Now. Also being murmured about is a big Afflicted Quarter headlining gig around Xmas time - we'll keep y'all posted on that one.
we were wondering if u were going to be bringing ur drum kit down to the venue? and if so are we able to borrow it for the night? our drummer will bring his own snare and cymbals. if not dw, and look forward to seeing u down there...

Just to warn the hoards of fans gearing up for the gig "scheduled" for tonight - THE TOUR DATES ARE WRONG. We have no idea when Judd Stars In Their Eyes is, so Dec 1st was put as a random date. So take your glad rags off for now. Same applies for the JBS, Jan 1st was chosen as a random date! Both should be some time in January 2008 though!
love
